Clearing Up Back Acne At The Medical Spa

Acne on your back can be quite bothersome. It might make you feel uncomfortable wearing certain shirts and tops. Plus, the blemishes may hurt and scar. If you're tired of worrying about back acne, one solution is to visit a medical spa. There are a few different treatments the practitioners there may recommend for back acne.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are widely used on facial skin to treat everything from acne to wrinkles. They can also be used on the back to treat acne. Your practitioner will apply a strong preparation of chemicals that exfoliate the skin, causing the outer layer to peel away. Usually, glycolic acid is used, but some spas may use lactic or salicylic acid instead. You won't notice too much immediately after the treatment, but a few days later, the skin on your back will start to peel. This can be a little itchy and uncomfortable, but once the peeling is complete, you'll see fresh, new skin and fewer blemishes.

A chemical peel is not a permanent solution for back acne, but it can give you several weeks or months of relief. When you start noticing blemishes again, you can go back to the med spa for another treatment.

Treating back acne with chemical peels is a lot easier than treating facial acne this way. When your back is peeling, you can just wear clothing that covers it until the peeling is over.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a treatment that involves pricking the skin with many thin, sterilized needles. Your practitioner will generally focus on the areas where you have the most blemishes. They can treat the places where your back acne has left scars, too.

Microneedling works by stimulating the immune system to start healing the treated area. This causes blemishes to heal sooner than they would on their own, and it can also help keep new blemishes from forming. The treatment also stimulates your skin to produce more collagen, which results in the fading of scars.

You'll have some redness and mild soreness after microneedling, but this clears up within a few days. Most patients need a few treatments, spaced a couple of weeks apart, in order to get sustained relief from back acne.

If you're tired of seeing blemishes on your back, make an appointment at your local medical spa. The practitioners there can help you decide if one of the above treatments is a goodfit for your needs.
